What better way to counteract the intensive feasting and family time that usually happens on Christmas Day, than with some solid partying the nights before? From rose parties, to orphan Christmases, we’ve scouted out some of Sydney’s hottest Christmas Eve and Eve Eve parties. Get into the festive spirit at one of these great events:
Get in some last minute pre-Christmas partying at The Lansdowne’s Ratbags Chrissy on December 23. Kicking off at 6pm, this is set to be one rowdy little shindig, complete with cheap drinks ($5 cans, wines and spirits), $10 pizza, and dance-worthy sets from Bad Santa DJ’s and Craig & Baker DJ’s. You might even cop a glimpse of Santa himself.
After one last late-night party session before Christmas? You’ll find a jam-packed night of festive fun at Black Christmas in The Underground, on December 23. Civic Underground’s hosting quite the rager, featuring tunes from the likes of Hamish Robertson, Sur Select, Raphy Wolf and Nalbs, backed by an epic live light show. Prepare for a big one – it all runs till 4am.
Spending Christmas without the fam? Well, there’s no way you’ll go lonely if you head on down to The Manly Wharf Hotel’s ‘Orphans’ Christmas’ on December 24. The pub’s putting on a proper festive do, complete with Christmas crackers, silly hats and DJ’s spinning tunes well into the night. Throw in one of the kitchen’s $25 roast dinners, with a complimentary beer or wine, and you might even rate this one over your regular family festivities!
While there’s no chance of an actual white Christmas here in Aus, The Argyle’s Belvedere ‘Let It Snow’ Christmas Party should help fill the void. For the December 23 event, this well-loved party spot will be transformed into a wintery wonderland, complete with confetti snow, dancers and special edition Belvedere cocktails. Tunes will come courtesy of DJ Brooklyn, and entry’s free for anyone who wears a Christmas jumper.
Have yourself an indie little Christmas, when Tokyo Sing Song hosts a special festive edition of All My Friends. The team behind your favourite indie-focused club night have pulled together a banging lineup worthy of the silly season, including Astrix, LiveWire, Sveta and Nickles. Head in from 10pm for what promises to be a night of good old fashioned debauchery.
How better to embrace the festive season, than with an arvo jam-packed with merry tunes from some of your fave DJ’s? On December 23, The Newtown Hotel is serving up a big slice of electronic heaven, headlined by POOLCLVB and supported by such legends as Purple Sneakers DJ’s, Lex Deluxe and Astrix Little. Head in from 3pm and slink right on into holiday mode.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a more summer-perfect beverage than a cool glass of rosé. So, on December 23, head down to Mrs Sippy and be among the first to sample one of NZ’s hottest new drops, at the Indian Summer Rose launch party. You’ll enjoy canapes on arrival, DJ tunes till late and plenty of gorgeous Kiwi-made rosé throughout the night. It all kicks off at 6pm – RSVP here.
Spawn Point Small Bar is wrapping up its final night of the year with a suitably grand Christmas party, kicking off at 5pm this Saturday, December 23. Join them for an evening of Christmas-themed drinks, complimentary snacks and of course, plenty of gaming. You’ll even have the chance to win drink cards if you wear your best ugly Christmas sweater.
Things are gonna get a little bit creepy and a whole lot crafty, at Wayward Brewing’s Nightmare Before Christmas party. Swing by the craft brewery from midday on December 23, to enjoy live tunes from That Red Head, face painting, prizes for best dressed and plenty of special edition festive beers. Spiced fig and almond Belgian stout, anyone?
Fancy a quiet, low-key night before Christmas? Well, you sure won’t find it at Mary’s. Instead, the Newtown favourite has planned an epic day of Christmas Eve fun, complete with food and drink giveaways, Christmas-themed cocktails and $5 Young Henrys tinnies, all day long. DJ Krampus will be gracing the decks to deliver a soundtrack of festive tunes, plus there’ll be a raffle to raise money for The Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
